High or low temperature testing is made by integrating with CME’s environmental chamber to a universal testing machine (UTM). Environmental chambers come with their own temperature controller and, depending on the system’s compatibility, the temperature settings and recordings may be controlled with the UTM’s controller or software.

Mechanical testing includes tension, compression, shear, bend, peel, fatigue, torsion, and biaxial testing.  The type of testing is determined by how the material or the product will be used in the real-world application it is designed or developed for. Concrete samples, for example, are most often tested in compression, whereas rope samples are most often tested in tension. Material testing should aim to simulate the real-world application for the results to be valid, therefore the testing may require high-temperature or low-temperature environments for certain industries like steel manufacture, glass manufacture, ceramics, and aerospace.
